Bio

Originally from London, I'm an artist and online course teacher living by the sea in Cornwall in the UK. After completing a Foundation Diploma in London in my early twenties, there was a pause in my creative life while I lived with, and subsequently recovered from, long term clinical depression. I also spent 6 years teaching Montessori, which involved a different kind of creativity!

I returned to painting in 2008, and from 2013 my online teaching work has evolved as a result of exploring art as a means of healing, self discovery, and truthful self expression. Having these two strands to my work - my own practice and the courses I offer - brings a rich diversity to my life as an artist.

Artist Statement

My current fascination lies in ideas of immersion, and the immediacy of sensation and experience you feel when fully immersed in your environment. It’s about letting physical experience bring us into the present for a moment of peace, and a reminder of the rich stillness to be found there. For the current Mornings in the Pool series, the lens for that is water, as my move to Cornwall has seen me embracing swimming outdoors as much as possible - quite literally immersing in my environment.
